Apply oil to the surface of the oilstone. Rub the blade edge of the item to sharpen back and forth along the stone at the angle required.
After sharpening, the blade may have aburr along its back edge. This is removed by turning the blade over and rubbing it sideways over the surface of the stone.
To avoid excessive wear to the stone, begin sharpening on the medium side; this will remove material quickly, and continue on the fine side for final honing. Protect the oilstone by storing it in a Faithfull Oilstone Box (FAI OSBOX)
